This Graduate Assistantship is funded by the NOAA-LMRCSC Program and the student is expected to fulfill certain requirements in the program such as having 3 months internship in project relavent NOAA lab, attend the required NOAA-EPP and AFS Meetings present a research project during the webinar series etc. There is a strong interest by the potential aquaculture community to find out about the status of some of the existing oyster population and if those oysters are wild oysters part of the locations or they are disease resistant Haskin lab oysters. Sampling will be done to assess the oyster population using molecular tools and genetics. Student will also become familiar with the natural remote set and where the baby oysters are setting more. We will be introducing some tiles along lower Delaware Bay. This is a two part program. Student candidate is expected to start in May of 2018 to start collecting some preliminary data during the summer of 2018. The candidate must be U.S. citizen or green card holder.
