Job Details

We are currently seeking a Research Biologist investigating on molluscan shellfish genetics and germplasm preservation. The successful applicant will work majorly on hard clams and eastern oysters for their breeding programs, germplasm preservation, and related genetic analysis and aquaculture techniques.

This position will be based at the Fisheries and Aquatic Sciences Program in Gainesville, Florida, and will travel to Cedar Key, Florida to use the research laboratory (1-hr driving from Gainesville) for hatchery, nursery and grow-out experiments.

This position will be open until filled.    


Requirements

 M.S. degree in shellfish aquaculture or related disciplines, or B.S. plus two-year working experience

Hands-on experience with oyster or clam spawning, hatchery, and grow-out

Capability of biological assays and molecular techniques in laboratory

Capability of drafting reports and manuscripts
