Juan Pablo Lazo: LACQUA 16 Plenary Speaker

LACQUA16 – Lima, Peru – November 28 – December 1, 2016. We are pleased to inform you that this year one of our plenary speakers will be Dr. Juan Pablo Lazo, current president of the World Aquaculture Society and former president of the Latin American & Caribbean Chapter.

Juan Pablo Lazo is a graduated Biochemist Engineer, Administrator in Aquatic Resources Exploitation from the Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education. He earned his Master’s degree in Aquaculture at Louisiana State University and the degree of Doctor of Marine Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin, United States. For 15 years, Juan Pablo has being holding the position of Senior Researcher at the Department of Aquaculture Center for Scientific Research and Higher Education of Ensenada in Baja California, Mexico. His research focuses on aquaculture nutrition and marine fish farming. He has over 45 papers in international refereed journals, technical journals and books in aquaculture. In May 2015, during the World Congress of Aquaculture, he was appointed as President Elect of the World Aquaculture Society, the most important scientific organization related to aquaculture worldwide.

The focus during his presentation will be on the current status and future outlook on Global Aquaculture with a special emphasis on sustainability and the potential that Peru offers for the aquaculture industry.
