I have really enjoyed and learned from the opportunity. The past year presented me with some personal challenges and I was ever grateful for the engagement and camaraderie of USAS friends and colleagues and the chance to have a positive impact on the Society, its students and U.S. aquaculture. Cheers! — Kathleen Hartman, President ing speakers, Tim Flegel, Iwan Sutanto, Professor Baskaran, Dr. Akshaya and Dr. Felix and myself. The second workshop was held in Bushaher, Iran on February 14-15. The workshop was organized with the support of National Shrimp Research Institute, an affiliate of the Iranian Fisheries Research Organization. The title of the workshop was “Advanced Shrimp Farming” and there were over 80 participants, mainly farmer from all over Iran. The workshop was very productive and many interesting questions from participants. The goal was to find new approaches and strategies for development of shrimp farming in the country. We had presentations from Dr. Orapint and Iwan Sutanto and myself. Malaysia is being considered as the host country for APA 2017. I had a meeting with Director General of Fisheries and both sides agreed on the event. Plans for APA 2016 in Surabaya, Indonesia are progressing very well. — Farshad Shishehchian, President Asia Pacific, continued from page 5
