Dar es Salaam (somehow loosely translated to ‘haven of peace’) is East Africa’s fastest growing city, with a population of over 4 million inhabitants. A commercial hub located along a natural harbor on the Indian Ocean, Dar es Salaam boasts a multicultural home to Tanzanians, Africans, Arabic, South Asian and European communities. The city straddles some of the most important sea routes in the world. It is East Africa’s second-busiest port and boasts several beautiful beaches as well as an interconnection with the perfect touristic destination, Zanzibar.

The Julius Nyerere International Convention Centre (JNICC) is one of the largest Convention Centres in Tanzania. This state-of-theart convention centre lies in the heart of Dar es Salaam’s CBD and can accommodate over 1000 delegates. It is surrounded by a wide range of budget and luxury hotels and a number of traditional and international restaurants offering rich diversity of local, African and international cuisine. JNICC has of recent become a global destination of choice for hosting many global professional conferences and tradeshows

World Aquaculture 2026 Tanzania offers a great opportunity for aquaculture researchers, practitioners, decision makers and other stakeholders to meet, network and discuss all aspects of aquaculture in Africa. Exhibitors from all over the globe are expected to exhibit their products in the state-of-the-art exhibition Center. Participants will also have the opportunity to explore some famous touristic attractions in Dar es Salaam and countrywide. Special excursionary or aquaculture tours will also be arranged to nearby fish farms (both large, medium and small scale), fish markets and some aquaculture R&D centres. Be sure to schedule time for this unique scientific, business and social event!

Programme Themes

The World Aquaculture 2026 Tanzania technical program will aim to cover developmental issues including latest research and developmental aspects on aquaculture in Africa and globally. The thematic plenary and technical parallel sessions will comprise submitted oral and poster presentations in English, French, Portuguese and Arabic. WA26T will feature an international trade exhibition, industry forums, student sessions and activities, satellite workshops (and training sessions) and various meetings/forums on aquaculture development in Tanzania and globally. The international conference will be centred around the theme “Aquaculture Driving Blue Transformation”, and will feature lessons learnt from Tanzania and other countries on the role sustainable aquaculture continues to play in building sustainable food systems for economic growth.
