About Us: WAS-Asian Pacific Chapter

The Asian Pacific Chapter (APC) is part of the World Aquaculture Society (WAS) which is a dynamic organization in the world capable of responding to change and is recognized for its professional credibility in aquaculture science, technology, education, and information exchange, contribute to the progressive and sustainable development of aquaculture throughout the world.  The annual conference and exhibition organized by WAS are recognized as the premier aquaculture and present an ideal opportunity for all stakeholders in Fisheries and allied industries, including researchers, academics, students, farmers and so on to showcase their achievements and explore newer vistas of research.  

 The Asian Pacific Chapter was established in 1996 following the highly successful Annual Meeting of WAS held in Bangkok that year and in order to meet the expanding international of the World Aquaculture Society and to address specific needs in various areas of the world. Recognizing the critical importance of the Asian region in world aquaculture production it was felt that aquaculturists and scientists from the region would benefit from the establishment of a regional chapter of WAS focused on their needs and priorities.   The driving goal behind the Chapter is to help sustainable aquaculture development. The main way we aim to achieve this is through a commitment to the dissemination and exchange of information and ideas through meetings, publications, and discussions. We hope to serve all our members, who include scientists, teachers, students, farmers, manufacturers of equipment and supplies (including feed) and people who develop policy and regulations. Membership of the Asian Pacific Chapter is open to anyone with an interest in Asian aquaculture whether based in the region or outside of the region.
