Dr. Charles Santerre is recruiting a Ph.D. student who will study the economic feasibility of offshore aquaculture in South Carolina. The most important part of this graduate work will be focused on the regulatory and policy hurdles, business feasibility, and economic impact. Implications of this study will be used to communicate with policymakers on a state and national level.
The student will serve as a Research Assistant for this three-year project. The coursework and Ph.D. program will be through Clemson University’s Political Science Department (Ph.D. in Policy Studies at Clemson). This interdisciplinary degree will align policy studies with applied economics research. Preliminary coursework (3 to 4 semesters) will be in policy studies on campus in Clemson, South Carolina. Dissertation research will occur on campus and in coastal areas between Savannah, Georgia, and Myrtle Beach, South Carolina.
