We need to replace the pneumatic cylinder on one of our machines because the mechanism’s movement has become less stable. The machine operates every day, so it’s preferable to install the new part without modifying the design. I measured the diameter and length of the old cylinder, but found several similar options. In addition to these parameters, there are requirements for mounting and stroke length. What specifications do you check before selecting an Aventics cylinder?

Selecting an Aventics cylinder
When I was replacing the cylinder on my machine, at first I also only compared the basic dimensions. Then it turned out that I also needed to consider the mounting type and operating pressure. To replace it, I ordered the necessary part from an Aventics parts supplier, providing the part number of the old cylinder and its dimensions. I was also asked to provide photos of the mounting to verify compatibility. After that, it was much easier to choose the right option. I would also check the stroke length and operating speed of the cylinder. For equipment with a high number of operating cycles, these parameters are very important. In my case, after the replacement, the mechanism began to operate smoothly again.
We recently had a similar situation with another machine. The cylinder initially began to operate more slowly, and after a few days, its movement became erratic. We checked several components of the system and only then decided to replace the cylinder. After installing the new part, the problem went away. Now we try to check these components as soon as we notice the first signs of a change in performance.
It's helpful to check the original part number before ordering a replacement. Even similar cylinders can have different mounting requirements. When I need a quick break, I enjoy playing Block Blast game.
