Hey from Hamilton! Man, what a rough break, I totally get that highway nightmare because I spent three hours stuck in a similar mess last week. Don't worry, pulling off the highway there is super easy and fast, and the parking lot is massive and free with plenty of spots even in the middle of the day. We also pulled in during a similar situation, having checked food options at elements casinos beforehand. They've got a few cool restaurants and cozy cafes where you'll be served fast, fed warm, hearty meals, and you can finally decompress and catch your breath before hitting the road again.
