PRODUCTION OF EEL (Anguilla bicolor) FOR BUSINESS SCALE IN AQUACULTURE BUSINESS CENTER (ABC) KARAWANG, INDONESIA

Applied research's of eel production has been carried out in the ABC Karawang since 2006. The species ever cultivated them A. marmorata from Poso, Sulawesi (Indonesia), A.reinharti imported from  Australia and A. bicolor from Pelabuhan Ratu, West Java (Indonesia). Currently, ABC Karawang only maintaining culture of A. bicolor, because it is the one most interested buyers so it is more suitable as a business commodity. Eel fish farming activities conducted in ABC Karawang including nursery (from glass eel to size 5 g, Growth phase I (size 5 g to 20 g), Growth phase II (size 20 g to consumption size). Nursery of seed cultured in a concrete tank of 10-30 m2 (for 90-120 days) use water from an deep wheel. Growth phase I cultured at 50-100 m2 soil ponds for 60 days and Growth phase II cultured in soil ponds 500-1000 m2 for 120-150 days using water. Feed given during eel rearing used bloodworm and feed pasta. At each phase of eel's rearing performed sortation activity to get uniform size of eel. Results showed that activity in the nursery phase eel carried produces survival rate from 40-50% and 85-95% in Growth phase. Business analysis results indicate in the nursery phase performed R/C ratio : 1.17 and Growth phase R/C ratio:1.57. The fish are sold alive transportation to the local market.
