West Nusa Tenggara Province comprises a great potential for the development of marine aquaculture. Beside any aquaculture inputs, water quality plays important roles for the sustainability of sea farming. Efforts could be required to conduct environmental monitoring on a regular basis to determine ranges and its dynamics.

Water quality examinations were conducted on January-December 2015, which were involved 984 samples collected from the districts of West Lombok, Central Lombok, North Lombok, East Lombok, Sumbawa Besar, West Sumbawa, Bima and Dompu.  A series of laboratory testing were performed to 11 parameters such as nitrate, nitrite, phosphate, ammonia, pH, salinity, COD, total chlorophyll, temperature, TSS and DO.  Data analysis was conducted to 662 samples by the testing amount of > 2,855.   Analysis was also conducted through each district, which would perform dynamic analysis for each parameter during the whole year.

In general, water quality in West Nusa Tenggara province ; nitrate has a mean value of 3,482, nitrite has a mean value of 0.164,  phosphate has a mean value of 0.496, ammonia has a mean value of 0.047, pH has a mean value of 7.92, Salinity has a mean value of 35.756, COD has a mean value of  98.15, total chlorophyll has a mean value of 0.75, the mean temperature has a value of 26.856, TSS has a mean value of 0.019 and DO have a mean value of 5.123.
