Growth and cultivation of water living things most influenced by water temperature. Temperature affects the metabolic activity of the organism, therefore the organism both in the sea and freshwater was bounded by the water temperature. Generally, the increasing of growth rate caused by increasing of temperature. It can suppress the cultivation of survival and also death of fish if the temperature extreme (drastic) was increasing. An energy need for metabolic processes, and the energy filtering of food need oxygen, so the metabolic rate can be estimated from the rate of oxygen consumption. The results showed the most influence of metabolism are  temperature, an oxygen and fish activity. The purpose  of this activity was to to determine the effect of temperature on survival/ Survival Rate (SR), growth and health of the Barramundi (Lates calcarifer).

This activity was conducted from August to December 2014 at Marine Culture Development Center Batam,  Riau Islands. The methods used 2 tank of Larvae Culture (10m3) which one was using water heater treathment and the other was control (no treatment). The treatment was using water heater during larval rearing to maintain the optimum temperature (30-35oC) while the control (no treatment) only depends on the water temperature. For the feeding, there was using live foods and pellet for each treatment, The density of larvae were 30/L (300.000/tank). Sampling was doing every 3 days and fish health can be seen by visual and counting the  survival of Larvae (SR).

Results of these activity : Growth activity of Treathment A faster than treatment B. After 35 days, length of fish in Treatment A was 25mm, and treatment B was 19mm in length. In the treatment of A did not find any disease attacks the larvae. Treatment B larvae were indicated disease, that could be see from black color fish body, loss of appetite, floating, and swim away from the group (Black body syndrome). In treatment B also found that larvae belly, floating, loss appetite and also swim away from the group (Big Belly) .Survival Rate (SR) of treatment A is 13.50% with total 40.500 fish and Treatment B is 12.25% and Total fish are 36.750.
