THE REARING OF TENGADAK FISH (Barbonymus schwanenfeldii) IN INDOOR HATCHERY ON OPTIMAL SALINITY AND CALCIUM MEDIA
Tengadak fish are local commodities of Borneo and Sumatera that have potential to be developed as the consumption fish. Low level presumably growth because of external factors which are not optimal in supporting their life, such as rearing media ( salinity because of tengadak hyperosmotic to their environment and calsium for growth the sceleton system).
This aimed the study is to get the rearing technique of tengadak (Barbonymous schwanenfeldii) on the optimal salinity and calcium in rearing media.
The experiment design was arranged in factorial completely randomized design with three replications. The treatments included three media salinity levels, that is, 0 ppt, 3 ppt, 6 ppt and four different calcium level , that is 0 mg L-1, 10 mg L-1, 20 mg L-1, and 30 mg L-1. The containers used 36 glass aquarium 60x40x40 cm, and total water volume 70 L. Then it was aerated in order to assist the solubility of calcium and oxygen aeration. The size of fish used was an average length of 2 ± 0.03 cm. Fish stocking density was 1 fish L-1 . The test feed was fresh silk worm (Tubifex sp), the feed was given ad libitum three times a day The cultured period was 40 days.
The result showed that the 3 ppt salinity media and 20 mg L-1 calcium was the optimal rearing media of tengadak fish, that have the best of absolute growth was 3,84 g(Figure 1) , feed eficiency was 39,55%(Figure 2), Figure 3 was response curves feed efficiency in each salinity during the experiment and fish resistance to the flow of water .
