Pisang shrimp is a native species of Aceh that is mainly found in western coast of Aceh and Simeuleu island. These shrimp grow well in low salinity and response to various feed. In pond, the shrimp inhabit either in the pond bottom and actively swim onto the water column. Further, from the laboratory test indicated that Pisang shrimp has higher resistance of WSSV compared to tiger shrimp. Scientific name not available yet, and DNA test clearly found that these species are differ with Penaues monodon. It has red color of cooked shrimp that should attract international shrimp market demand. Price is comparable with black tiger shrimp. Production comes from fishing either tradisionally cultured in pond. However, pond production still rely on natural seed availability and it is seasonal abundance.

Seed production in hatchery already established by applied P. monodon protocol. However, due to broodstock availability is seasonal abundant, it is therefore the need to produced year round broodstock through domestication process. Domestication process currently performed at BADC of Ujung Batee facilities. General feature of broodstock, larvae and grow out performance are listed below.
