One of the factors of success in the mass production of tiger shrimp larvae is the availability of natural feed with the optimal density. However, it has not been found accurate scientific information regarding the optimal density of Chaetoceros sp natural feed for Windu shrimp larvae survival rate, especially in the mysis phase. The laboratory testing scale conducted to obtain optimal density of natural feed Chaetoceros sp to get up survival rate optimal level for tiger shrimp larvae at mysis phases.

Terdapat 4 perbedaan kepadatan pakan alami  Chaetoceros sp yang menjadi perlakuan pada penelitian tersebut, yakni : A) kepadatan 5x104 sel/mL; B) kepadatan 7.5x104 sel/mL; C) kepadatan 1x105 sel/mL; C) kepadatan 1.25x105 sel/mL, masing-masing 3 ulangan.

There are 4 differences density of Chaetoceros sp natural feed being treated in the study as : a)  5x104 cells/mL; B) 7.5x104 cells/mL; C) 1x105 cells/mL; C) 1.25x105 cells/mL, 3 replications respectively.

The container used in the study of glass filled with sea water of 2.5 L, then given standard fertilizers as a source of nutrients for plankton natural feed. Furthermore littered tiger shrimp larvae mysis phases as much as 30 individuals per container.

The test parameters were ; feed consumption of mysis phase to Chaetoceros sp natural food are calculated 2 times daily at 22:00 pm and 10:00 am. The water quality monitoring as in ; salinity, temperature, pH, DO, is done every day, and the survival rate of larvae is calculated at the end of the observation.

The result showed that the highest survival rate of 63.66% on the density of natural food 1x105 cells/mL and larval survival rate lowest of 28.33% in the density of natural food 1.25x105 cells/mL.

The range of the water quality during the study were; temperature: 30-32; salinity: 30-33; DO: 3-4; pH: 7-8, still optimal for survival rate of mysis phase
