Xelect Ltd. is an innovation spinoff out of the University of St. Andrews in Fife Scotland.

Our mission is to support the growth and profitability of the finfish and shellfish aquaculture industry through the provision of high quality genetic services at affordable prices. We aim to be the partner of choice for the development of advanced breeding programs through the application of our leading proprietary technologies.

The market for our genetic services is the global aquaculture supply chain including breeders, farmers, feed manufacturers, processors and retailers. Xelect provides a comprehensive range of services including stock management tools for paternity analysis and sex determination, marker assisted selection, gene expression analysis for the feed industry, triploidy testing, and DNA-based species identification of pathogens and invasive species.

As a leading company in marker assisted selection we are also committed to continuous innovation inbreeding technologies for all commercially important traits and species through research and development. Our in house R & D program has developed genetic assays for broodstock selection to increase fillet yield in Atlantic salmon, rainbow trout and tilapia that have been licensed to major breeding and production companies.
