SUSTAINABILITY STATUS OF THE GROUPER MARICULTURE IN FLOATING CAGES IN THE INNER OF AMBON BAY, MALUKU PROVINCE

Sustainable aquaculture is an implementation of the concept of sustainable development in the aquaculture sector that is synonymous with sustainable environment. The meaning of sustainability in the field of aquaculture is not only seen in terms of the environment but is also expected to provide economic benefits for farmers in the long term. The concept of sustainable development oriented to the three dimensions of sustainability, ie economic, social and ecological. The paradigm of sustainable fisheries system suggests that the development of sustainable fisheries should accommodate four main aspects, namely: ecological sustainability, sustainability of socio-economic, community sustainability, and institutional sustainability. Inner of Ambon Bay designated as a marine aquaculture area in spatial plan of the city of Ambon. Analysis of sustainability status from dimensions of ecological, economic, social, technological and institutional have to do in order to support sustainability of mariculture. Multidimensional approach with Rapfish software (Rapid appraisal for fishery) that have been modified was used in this study.

The analysis showed that ecological dimension has an index of "44.02" and categorized as less sustainable. Of the fourteen attributes were analyzed, there were seven sensitive attributes ie water quality, utilization of existing water, the use of the feed material, the level of utilization of the waters, threats to water, certification of Good Aquaculture Practices (GAP) and the carrying capacity of the waters.

Sustainability indexes of economic dimension was "42.42" and its categorized as less sustainable. Leverage analysis showed that of the eleven attributes that affect the sustainability of the economic dimension, there were five sensitive attributes ie marketing chain, subsidy level, the income of farmers, market breadth and price fluctuations.

Sustainability indexes of social dimensions was "56.88" and categorized fairly sustainable. Leverage analysis showed that of the seven attributes , obtained four sensitive attributes, ie status and frequency of conflicts, the understanding of the environment, the main livelihood and the level of unemployment.

Sustainability index of technological dimension was "52.33" and categorized fairly sustainable. Analysis of leverage on nine attributes, there were six important attributes that affect the sustainability index on technological dimension ie artificial feed technology, seed availability, infrastructure support, the availability of facilities and infrastructure of cages, experiences in cultivation technology, and disease control.

Sustainability index of institutional dimension  was "53.41" and categorized fairly sustainable. There were five important attributes of the nine attributes that affect of the institutional dimension sustainability index, ie institutional of seed, institutional of the fund, government support, institutional of the market and institutional of farmers.
