Success in the cultivation of shrimp, especially shrimp vaname give thought to determine the condition of the biological indicators of water quality, especially in the pond. To determine the biological indicators of the success of shrimp ponds vaname, has been carried out observations of 33 farms with an intensive system maintenance lifespan of more than 50 days. Samples come from farms that are built BBPBAP Jepara in Tangerang, Rembang, Kendal and Jepara.

From the observation of biological indicators showed that the success of shrimp ponds vaname managed to maintain the dominance of plankton species Chlorella sp during maintenance. High stocking density contribute to the abundance of plankton so that the abundance of plankton are at a very high abundance> 1 million cells / L and diversity index in the range of 0.81 to 0.93 which indicates instability of plankton populations in the media. This illustrates that the ingenuity of farmers in controlling the abundance of plankton and plankton instability while maintaining a kind of Chlorella sp dominance in ponds provide success in the cultivation of shrimp vaname intensive systems.
