EFFECT HIGH CONCENTRATION OF NITRATE AND AMMONIUM ON GROWTH RATES, PRODUCTION, CHLOROPHYLL AND CARRAGEENAN Kappaphycus Alvarezii
This study aims to find the effect of NH4 + and NO3 - alone or a combination of both that can generate growth, production and quality seaweed Kappaphycus alvarezii maximum. Cultivation containers used were Styrofoam length, width and height of each 46x 32 x 28.5 cm amounts to 30 pieces. The experimental design used was completely randomized design (CRD) with 10 treatment with each of three replications, namely: A (30 ppm NO 3 -, B (40 ppm NO 3 -), C (50 ppm NO 3 -), D (30 ppm NH4 +) E (40 ppm NH4 +), F (50 ppm NH4 +), G (15 ppm NO 3 - and 15 ppm NH4 +), H (20 ppm NO 3 - and 20 ppm NH4 +), I (25 ppm NO 3 - and 25 ppm NH4 +) and A (Control). Data were analyzed using analysis of variance followed by Turkey's W-test. The water quality parameters were analyzed descriptively based on the viability of seaweed K. alvarezii. the results showed that the rate of growth and production of the best seaweed produced in the combination treatment of fertilizer NO3 - and NH4 + doses each of 20 ppm. The content of carrageenan is best produced on combination treatment of fertilizer NO3 - and NH4 + doses each of 20 ppm. The content of chlorophyll a and the content of N-best total combination treatment of manure produced on NO3 - and NH4 + with a dose of 25 ppm respectively.
The rate of growth and the best production tends to be obtained at a concentration of NH 4 NO + 20 ppm and 3-20 ppm. The rate of growth of seaweed that is high affecting the high content of carrageenan, where production and high carrageenan content caused by the provision of NH 4 + and NO 3 - high either singly or in combination with NH 4 +. The levels of NO 3 - were higher in cells stimulate the activity of enzymes nitrate reeducate (reducing enzyme into ammonium nitrate), which became part of the protein which led to the development of the vegetative (tallus). The content of chlorophyll a and N-Total is best produced on combination treatment of NH 4 + and NO 3 - with each dose of 25 ppm. The content of chlorophyll a tends to be higher in seaweed produced by NH 4 + both one both or in combination with NO 3 - than NO 3 - N.
